Shimano Aero Technium MGS 14000 XTD
Shimano Aero Technium MGS 14000 XTD 2022 All new for the 2022 season, the top of the range Aero Technium MgS widely regarded as the ultimate Big Pit reel has now been massively improved. This is a unique reel of its kind, made up from Shimano newest, ground breaking technology when it comes to aid casting distance. The list of features of this reel is remarkable: every element of Shimano technology available has been used. A Hagane body, Magnesium frame makes it incredibly light yet unbelievably tough. Hagane (cold forged) Gear for maximum strength, Infinity drive and Silent drive for increased winding power, smoothness and durability and a single piece bail arm in titanium to always guide line to the roller and optimum bail arm strength. The most notable feature is a 45mm stoke spool with Super Slow 10 line lay system that lays 107 wraps of line per oscillation to obtain a perfect linear launch, reaching greater distance, more precisely and Rigid cast to be able to handle and better control all of that power exerted during a cast. In one sentence: The best distance reel ever built. Features Magnesium Body and Ci4 Rotor dramatically reduces weight while retaining the best in body strength and rigidity. Smooth and powerful winding through Hagane Gearing, X-SHIP, Infinity Drive and Silent Drive. Rigid cast for increased shaft strength, less vibration and line on spool friction for the most powerful casts. 45mm spool design in conjunction with Super Slow Speed 10 (107 Wraps) oscillation offers the next generation in casting distance potential. Single machined wind into gear folding handle, for zero play in use and transportation. Matching spare spool supplied including 3 different depth line

Maximising casting potential and performance
For many years it has been recognised that line friction during a long range cast is one of the limiting factors. The unique combination of a Long Stroke Spool and Super Slow Oscillation (107 cycles of line per oscillation) are designed to minimise line friction as it leaves the spool. The inclusion of an AR-C spool lip and Parallel Body design further reinforces Shimano's efforts to give long range anglers the ultimate in casting potential and performance. In testing, noticeable increases in distance have been achieved when compared to reels of a similar style.
As its name implies, Shimano has used ultra lightweight magnesium for the sleek HAGANE body in an effort to minimise overall weight. As a result, faster rod speeds can now be generated on extreme long range casts, which in turn increases lead speed at the point of release. And if all of this unique technology wasn't enough, Shimano has redesigned the main spool shaft to minimise any possible deflection under extreme load. The new Rigid Cast helps to optimise the timing of the line release and reduces friction-generating spool vibration.
Of course, nothing compensates for less than perfect casting technique, but by improving distance casting potential and minimising weight, Shimano has inadvertently improved casting accuracy. Less effort means more precision, more control and improved technique, enabling leads to hit the correct spot time and time again with the accuracy of a top marksman
The HAGANE Drive Gear is produced by Shimano’s coldforging technology, without the need for additional machining. This delivers a longlasting smoothness, strength, lightness and power at the very heart of the reel.
Shimano ARC Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts.
The onepiece bail wire has no gap for line to snag on during normal operation. Made of Stainless Steel, it reduces friction and allows the line to get onto the line roller quicker.
The HAGANE Body is produced from highrigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body.
The Parallel Body feature implicates that the spool is lined out parallel to the rod. This results in the reduction of line touching the rod and subsequently this increases the casting distance.
The "Hi-Speed Drag" is the fastest drag function ever featured on a Shimano reel. Only a very small turn on the drag knob will transit the drag settings from 'free spool mode' to the 'fight mode'.
